99Boat launches online no-commission sales.

Online company 99boat has officially launched, with no-commission boat sales – offering the UK and Europe an alternative to traditional yacht brokerage.

Instead, sellers will pay an upfront fixed fee to list their boat across a network of major boat selling portals, such as Yachtworld and The Yacht Market, with a combined audience of up to ten million.

Although not a traditional brokerage, 99Boat are keen to ensure that they offer many of the services sellers have come to expect from brokers, including conveyancing, valuation guidance, and dealing with enquiries.

Sellers will also be able to access extras such as professional photography, video tours, and premium listing upgrades for their adverts.

The Hampshire-based start-up was co-founded by Carl Whitewood, who came up with the concept after realising the yacht brokerage industry was in need of a shake-up.

He has seen first-hand the high commissions often charged by brokers for boat sales after spending eight years as a yacht broker.

‘Brokers can charge anything from 5-10% commission, sometimes even more.

‘99Boat has been set up to challenge this. We can list your boat for £99. We don’t believe in commission, so we don’t charge any. It’s as simple as that.’

There are two packages offered by 99Boat – Port, which is £99 and offers 24 months’ worth of listings, and Starboard, which, at £699, offers 24 months’ listings, as well as a dedicated 99Boat agent to deal with initial enquiries, valuation guidance, and conveyancing.

Sellers can also purchase extras in the site’s Chandlery, with options such as professional photography, premium listing upgrades, and video tours.

99Boat are currently offering two discount codes – get 25% off Port packages with discount code 25PORT and get 20% off Starboard packages with discount code 20STAR.
